ABSTRACT

This study aimed to determine to determine how was PE curriculum being delivered in public senior high schools of Lucena City in terms of content, pedagogy, resources, and assessment, along with the barriers relative to student, teacher, and institution. The researcher also determined the delivery of PE teachers in public schools on the Senior High School (SHS) curriculum assessed by the PE teachers themselves and their PE coordinators, which were correlated with the perceived barriers in delivering the curriculum with an end view of developing an instructional management plan. 


The study used two research designs such as the descriptive- quantitative method and descriptive-correlational method. The respondents were all the senior high school Grade Level 11 and 12 PE teachers and PE coordinators from the six public schools who are offering senior high school programs. Frequency-Percentage Distribution, Weighted Mean, Standard Deviation, Spearman’s Rho were used in analyzing the data. 


The results revealed that majority of the SHS coordinators and teachers in the senior high schools of Lucena City are experienced and tenured. Meanwhile, they have limited attendance to related seminars and trainings for the last three years. The highest component in curriculum delivery extended by the PE teachers is in terms of pedagogy, followed by content, assessment, and resources as the lowest. It was found out that there are significant ways to address the issues and challenges brought by the barriers related to students, teachers and institutional. Based on the findings of the study, a results-based instructional management plan was drafted. 


The recommendations were, The PE teachers should continuously enhance their knowledge, skills and attitudes toward curriculum delivery particularly in the use of resources and address the related barriers that may hinder their performance. The schools, represented by their heads and coordinators, may use the output of this study as reference.
