INTRODUCTION

Pugh (2023) stated that a part-time job is one that usually requires a person to work fewer hours per workweek than their employer deems full-time employment. However, there is not a set number of hours per week that's legally considered full-time or part-time employment, so it's up to the employer to decide which positions are classified either way.

In exploring the impact of part-time jobs on senior high school students at Nasugbu East Senior High School, it is essential to understand the dynamics between employment and academic performance. As adolescents’ transition into young adulthood, the responsibilities and experiences gained from part-time employment can significantly influence their development. This study aims to shed light on how such employment opportunities shape the lives of students within this specific educational context.

Navigating the balance between work and school can be challenging for senior high school students, particularly in an era where academic expectations are high, and employment opportunities are increasingly sought after. By delving into the experiences of students at Nasugbu East Senior High School, the researchers aim to uncover the nuances of how part-time jobs impact various aspects of their lives, including academic performance, socio-emotional well-being, and future aspirations.

Understanding the unique socio-economic landscape of Nasugbu East Senior High School is crucial for contextualizing the findings of this study. Factors such as local job availability, family dynamics, and societal expectations may influence students' decisions to seek employment and how they manage their responsibilities both inside and outside of the classroom. By exploring these contextual factors, we can gain a deeper understanding of the intersection between work and education for senior high school students in this community.

Furthermore, investigating the impact of part-time jobs on students' academic performance requires a nuanced approach that considers not only quantitative measures such as grades but also qualitative indicators such as time management skills, stress levels, and overall engagement in school activities. By embracing a comprehensive viewpoint, the researchers can encompass the diverse ways in which employment experiences influence the educational paths and future opportunities of students.

Through this study endeavor, the researchers aim to contribute valuable insights to the ongoing discourse on youth employment and education in Nasugbu East Senior High School. By understanding the impact of part-time jobs on students' lives, educators, policymakers, and parents can better support young people in navigating the challenges and opportunities that arise from combining work and education during their formative years. Ultimately, our findings seek to inform strategies and interventions that promote the holistic development and well-being of senior high school students in this community.
